Roman Reigns entered the ring as the reigning champion, defending his title against Finn Balor in his “Demon” persona.

Needless to say, both wrestlers brought their A-games, as well as everything from chairs to sticks to the party to be crowned the winner.

However, the ending took a very bizarre turn, with fans still processing the finish on social media.

Who Won at WWE Extreme Rules?

In the WWE Universal Championship match, it was Roman Reigns who won after a twist of fate gave him the perfect opportunity to pin his opponent.

The match was long and grueling, with Reigns’ Bloodline stablemates pulling Bálor out of the ring at one point just so “The Head of the Table” could land a devastating spear.

However, “The Demon” was seemingly resurrected when the sound of a heartbeat began pulsating around the arena, and he was ready to take the win.

But, for Bálor, disaster struck, as when he went to land his Coup de Grace finish, the top rope of the ring snapped, and he hit the deck clutching his knee.

This gave Reigns the perfect opportunity to land another spear, and he pinned The Demon all too easily.

Given how Bálor had fought valiantly throughout the match, this ending did not sit too well with some fans, who thought this was his moment to take the title.

While Reigns vs Bálor was the main event at the WWE Extreme Rules, there were other championships decided during the show.

Liv Morgan defeated Carmella in the pre-show, after which The New Day (made up of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods), took on Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles and Omos in a six-man tag team.

The New Day won, and Big E will face Bobby Lashley on tonight’s Raw.

The Usos then defeated The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) to defend the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship, after which Charlotte Flair defended her title of WWE Raw Women’s Champion, defeating Alexa Bliss.

Damian Priest went up against Jeff Hardy and Sheamus in a triple threat match, with Priest defending his WWE United States Championship, before Becky Lynch kept hold of her WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair.
