Roman Reigns has committed to two matches at the Royal Rumble: the battle royal itself and a singles match against his nemesis, King Corbin. However, Corbin’s ally, Robert Roode, returned and will take on Roman in a Tables match on Friday.

The winner of the match will pick the stipulation for Reigns and Corbin’s encounter at the Royal Rumble. Roman will want to win to make sure he has the advantage during the pay-per-view, but if Roode wins that could spell trouble for the “Big Dog.”

The future WWE Hall of Famer Kane returns tonight. The official WWE site is teasing a possible in-ring return at the Royal Rumble, but what will “the Big Red Machine” have to say?

Lacey Evans and Sasha Banks will finally meet in the ring tonight. If you’ve heard that before, that’s because it was scheduled for last week but “The Boss” had to finish recording her rap album. The result was a backstage brawl between Evans and Bayley, but with Sasha scheduled - again - to appear tonight, the WWE Universe is set for this personal one-on-one battle.

John Morrison returned to SmackDown last week and helped his friend The Miz defeat Kofi Kingston. After the loss, The New Day won’t want to take this standing, and Big E will take on Morrison. This will be Morrison’s first match in WWE in years, so will the former Intercontinental Champion have ring rust, or can he continue the momentum he and The Miz currently have?

Daniel Bryan is set to take on The Fiend at the Royal Rumble, but does the former champion have a chance? Ramblin’ Rabbit teased that Bray Wyatt has a weakness before being stopped. Will we find out before the match at the Rumble, or will Wyatt continue his dominance since his return?

Opening Segment

Kane opens the show and says that he wants one more WrestleMania. Bray Wyatt shows up on the titantron and says that whoever wins the Royal Rumble and tries to challenge him at WrestleMania. He says that if Kane is on the Firefly Fun House wall and is there, then he and The Fiend “got it on. “The Fiend comes out of the ring and looks at Kane, but Daniel Bryan comes up from behind him and chases him back into the ring. Bryan pulls out some of Wyatt’s dreads.

Backstage

Bryan challenges “The Fiend” to a Strap match at the Royal Rumble.

Big E (with Kofi Kingston) vs John Morrison (with The Miz)

Morrison wins via pinfall after a Starship PainThe finish was set up when Big E started jawing at Miz when Morrison hit him with a kick.

The Usos vs The Revival

Usos win via pinfall after a Frog Splash

Backstage

The Revival are asked about their loss. The team says that they need to make a change because the company cares about them as much as it cares for the tag division. The interview is interrupted by a brawl between Lacey Evans, Bayley and Sasha Banks. Lacey is pulled away while Sasha holds onto her ankleSonya Deville is getting ready for her match when Mandy Rose comes to ask if she’s ready. Sonya asks Mandy if she can get Otis to come to her match tonight. Mandy is confused, but Sonya says that she understands why she’s been nice to him these past few weeks - alluding to Mandy using Otis - but Mandy says that she’s been nice to Otis because he’s a sweet guy. Sonya asks Mandy if she can ask and Rose agreesIn the trainer’s room, Sasha is icing her ankle when a producer comes to the back and says that since Banks can’t go Bayley will go one-on-one with Lacey Evans instead in a non-title match. Both women are upset.

Shorty G Interview

He’s asked about Sheamus attacking him. Shorty G says that Sheamus is projecting his insecurities. Sheamus shows up and belittles Shorty G, which leads to Gable taking him down before being pulled off. Sheamus, upset, flips a table.

Braun Strowman Interview

Strowman says he’s declaring himself for the Rumble. He then says he’s still looking at Shinsuke Nakamura’s Intercontinental Championship

Elias Segment

Elias does his schtick and is about to sing a song when he’s interrupted by Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. Sami says that he wants to talk about Strowman wanting an IC title shot. He says that Shinsuke doesn’t back down from a fight, but he won’t give a shot. Sami says that he (he corrects himself and says we) calls the shots around and that this close to the Rumble there won’t be a title shot. He reminds everyone that Shinsuke won a Royal Rumble before and he’s putting everyone on notice. Elias tells Sami to shut up and is about to sing a song about them. Sami interrupts him and Cesaro gets in the ring and starts fighting Elias. Shinsuke and then Sami overwhelm him. Strowman comes out for the save

Rocky Johnson In Memory…..

Sonya Deville (with Mandy Rose) vs Alexa Bliss (with Nikki Cross)

Otis and Tucker come out to supportBliss wins via pinfall after a roll upThe finish was set up when Mandy gets to the top rope and Nikki knocks her off. Otis catches Mandy on the outside, which distracts Sonya long enough for Alexa to get the roll up.

Backstage

King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler approach Roode in the locker room and Corbin says that he will choose a stipulation that will take Roman out of the Royal Rumble. But they need Roode to get the job done.

Roman Reigns vs Robert Roode - Tables Match

King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler come out to help Roode. The Usos come out to save Roman and put Ziggler through a table. Roman Reigns wins after spearing Roode through a table in the corner. Reigns announces that his match with Corbin will be a Falls Count Anywhere match.
