The Princess of Staten Island first declared that she found James Ellsworth ‘uniquely attractive’ in December. This naturally led to him accompanying her to ringside for her matches and it wasn’t long before Ellsworth’s presence on the outside was being used for Carmella’s advantage.
At the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Carmella became the first female wrestler in the history of the WWE to win a Money in the Bank ladder match, and subsequently, a briefcase entitling her to a title shot. Controversially Ellsworth climbed the ladder himself and dropped the briefcase down below to Carmella. This caused Daniel Bryan to strip the case from Carmella and arrange another MITB match between the women of Smackdown which Carmella won again.
The heart of the matter
Whilst on Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler’s podcast ‘Dinner with the King’ Ellsworth discussed his current WWE status quo as Carmella’s companion and how exactly their love-at-first-sight pairing came about.
First Ellsworth revealed details about how Carmella pitched the idea to him after seeing him in his programme with Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles.
Ellsworth then explains that he thought it was a great idea, and gave details about how Carmella subsequently went directly to the chairman himself to pitch the idea and incredibly he loved it.
What’s next?
Carmella and James Ellsworth’s relationship has been going strong for 10 months now and doesn’t seem to show any signs of breaking apart. Because of the outside interference of Ellsworth and that MITB briefcase you have to feel that Carmella has a good shot at successfully cashing in and becoming the next SmackDown LIVE woman’s champion.

I think this shows how smart Carmella is. It was a shock for everyone to see her split apart from Enzo and Big Cass as the three of them were extremely popular as a group in NXT. However, she has made the best of it on SmackDown LIVE by directly pitching to Vince McMahon himself.
