It all began when Charlotte Flair lost a match to Ember Moon on an episode of SmackDown Live, after interference from SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Bayley. Soon after the match, Charlotte stated that she will have a better opponent at SummerSlam in Toronto. In the coming days, it was announced that WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus will be returning to SmackDown Live. On the blue show, Trish was interrupted by Charlotte Flair, who went on to challenge her for a match at SummerSlam.
At the Biggest Party of the Summer, Stratus proved that she can still hang in the ring in a singles match. Both women presented an intriguing back and forth affair, which ended with Charlotte Flair making Trish tap out. Post the match, Stratus received a thunderous ovation from her countrymen, as she left for backstage.

In a post-match interview with Cathy Kelley, Flair had nothing but praise for her opponent.
This was certainly a battle of the generations, with possibly the best of all time taking on the cornerstone of the Women’s Revolution. It would be interesting to see where Flair goes from here.
