In case you don’t know…
When Scott Hall and Kevin Nash left WWE and joined WCW, WWE came up with a storyline mocking the two for leaving the company. Jim Ross introduced Rick Bognar as ‘Razor Ramon’ and Glenn Jacobs as ‘Diesel’, with the two dressed up in the parts that they were playing.
The gimmick was not at all popular as no one took to it, and WWE dropped the gimmick after the 1997 Royal Rumble. Bognar’s contract soon expired after that and it was not renewed, so he went to Japan where he injured his neck and subsequently retired from wrestling.
Glenn Jacobs, on the other hand, was repackaged as Undertaker’s brother, Kane, and went on to become one of the most successful stars in WWE.
The heart of the matter
Bognar confessed in his interview that he thought Shawn would treat him badly due to the latter’s reputation for having an attitude problem. This would not be the case, however, as he continued to say that Shawn actually helped him and taught him a few things while wrestling for WWE. He called it one of the ‘peaks’ of his career.
When talking about Kane, he called him a hard worker and a perfectionist in the ring. He called Kane a consummate professional and shared an anecdote about a time that Kane got angry with him, for taking him to buy clothes in a place which had nothing that fit him.
He also confessed that he thought Kane was a great guy and said that the two got along well outside the ring.

Author’s take
While Rick did not have success in WWE like the wrestler he was imitating, his interview revealed that Shawn Michaels might not have been as horrible backstage as the stories suggest.
His gimmick was no doubt doomed to fail, with WWE being petty instead of putting some actual thought behind the idea.
